Jiffy-Tap

Tap Lubrication:

Jiffy-Tap units are properly lubricated at assembly, and should be checked periodically, especially if running under unusually severe conditions or located where coolant splash tends to wash lubricant off the spindle threads. Re-lubrication points are the spline end of the spindle, the switch bar fork the switch fork disc, wiper and lead screw threads. Access to these points is by removal of the switch cover, and the switch mounting plate. Coat the above parts with a high film strength grease such as molybdenum disulfide (moly grease). These lubrication points should be checked occasionally as a precautionary measure. CAUTION: over lubrication of the lead screw can cause grease to accumulate on the nut. This grease may cause chips to adhere to the front of the nut and slowly work their way past the felt wiper and lockup the lead screw and nut.
