Jiffy-TapControl Valves:A separate 4-way hydraulic solenoid valve is required for each Jiffy-Tap unit. This valve is not a part of the Jiffy-Tap unit, and must be obtained by the user, either from his Jiffy-Tap distributor or from a hydraulic supply house. The valve type most often used is a 3-position, double solenoid 4-way valve. It must be rated for the psi pressure and the GPM flow, which has been selected for the tapping operation. Other valve types may also be used in electrical circuits designed for them. Control valves, for ease of maintenance and convenience, are mounted on the hydraulic power supply, but may be located anywhere between the power supply and the Jiffy-Tap. The electrical circuit for Jiffy-Tap operation may be designed for any voltage from 24 to 220, A-C or D-C. Where several Jiffy-Taps are to be used on the same job, a convenient and economical arrangement is to combine the electric circuits in one or more boxes. The boxes should be installed in a location which is well away from, or protected against radiated heat and coolant splash, and where they will not be subject to severe vibration. |
