Jiffy-Tap

The Jiffy-Tap is the light, compact, and powerful answer to production lead screw tapping or die threading in close quarters. It will easily drive taps up through 1-1/2" N.C. size in medium cast iron with ample allowance for dull taps. Jiffy-Tap units have a 6 HP capability, yet will mount side-by-side on 3-5/16" spacing. On special order this can be reduced to 3-3/16". No other tapping unit can deliver the long life and high torque on the Jiffy-Tap in such a small frame.

The standard Jiffy-Tap unit is supplied with a number 4 Jacobs taper. Optional chucks can be purchased that hold a tap bushing or ASA tooling. The two main chucks are the #1 chuck (for small taps) and the #2 Chuck (for large taps). These chucks are designed to hold a tap bushing with a square broached tap hole. The #3 chuck is a special chuck designed to hold a 1-1/16" diameter (ASA) adjustable adaptor tooling.
