Jiffy-DrillControl Valves:Two separate 4-way hydraulic solenoid valves are required for each Jiffy-Drill unit (a 2-way valve may be used to control they hydraulic motor when drill reversal is not needed). These valves are not a part of the Jiffy-Drill unit, and must be obtained by the user, either from his Jiffy-Drill distributor or from a hydraulic supply house. The valve types most often used are 3-position, double solenoid 4-way valves. They must be rated for the pressures and the GPM flows, which has been selected for the drilling operation. The valve that controls the drill feed must have a pressure reducing valve. Other valve types may also be used in electrical circuits designed for them. Control valves, for ease of maintenance and convenience, are mounted on the hydraulic power supply, but may be located anywhere between the power supply and the Jiffy-Drill. The electrical circuit for Jiffy-Tap operation may be designed for any voltage from 24 to 220, A-C or D-C. Where several Jiffy-Drills are to be used on the same job, a convenient and economical arrangement is to combine the electric circuits in one or more boxes. The boxes should be installed in a location which is well away from, or protected against radiated heat and coolant splash, and where they will not be subject to severe vibration. |
